Governors from 17 states in the U.S. have pledged to accelerate their efforts to create a green economy by boosting renewables, building better electricity grids and cutting emissions from transport. The accord signed by governors from states that include California, New York and Washington sets out commitments to expand renewable energy and energy efficiency by integrating solar and wind generation into electricity grids and modernizing grids to improve reliability. Companies that offer electric vehicles or vehicles that run on alternative fuels will also be provided incentives to continue helping infrastructure in those 17 states, which represent around 40% of the U.S. population. In the face of the Supreme Court’s decision on the Clean Power Plan, the signed accord shows that there is a commitment to going green.
