Phillips has created a little patch that can warn of an impending heart attack hours before it even happens, virtually allowing you to check into a hospital and be taken care of before anything occurs. The 4.6 by 1.6 inch patch named The Wearable Bionsensor is a light, portable version of the vital-sign monitor that’s often wired up to patients laying in hospital beds. The patch tracks your vital signs and other data, and streams it to Philip’s cloud-based IntelliVue Guardian system, which can send early warnings of a heart attack to you and your doctor via smartphone or tablet. The device will be available by the end of the year, and may be vital for patients with chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes.
