Solar power has been hot news lately with numbers forecasting another strong year in added solar capacity, but what you may not realize is that wind power has also become a very big deal in the U.S these days. Last year, Iowa generated 31 percent of its power from wind resources, and several states including South Dakota(25.5 percent) and Kansas(23.9 percent) are not far behind that number. Generating electricity from wind is still a fairly regional trend, however. The Midwest sees the most wind production while states in the South have no wind production outside of Texas and Oklahoma. But where there is wind, it’s working well. In fact, the U.S as a whole generated more wind power than any other country in the world. Expect that to continue on as a lot more wind turbines are set to be constructed in the near-future.
