Nuclear fusion is a process that replicates the natural powers of the sun to create vast amounts of clean energy without producing carbon emissions. The process works by fusing two hydrogen atoms together under extreme pressures to produce an almost limitless supply of helium, a fuel source. The technology has not made on a scale that would make it usable, but that could soon change following an announcement from a group of Canadian scientists who plan to harness and develop nuclear fusion technology. The scientists believe that, with a little support from the government and private companies, they can bring nuclear fusion into reality by 2030. If successful, nuclear fusion would become the energy source with the lowest carbon footprint among all sustainable sources available today.
