Today’s Solutions: February 23, 2026

Mind chatter, or “monkey mind”, is all too familiar to most of us. We have the awareness of this loud, distracting—at times destructive—voice in our head. And we are also aware that keeping a steady meditation practice is a fantastic way to keep it in check so that it doesn’t control us. Too many of us, however, also make up excuses to not grant ourselves that daily gift. Comes in ABC News reporter Dan Harris. He is one of those no-nonsense guys who grew up in an atheist family, and whose professional journey unexpectedly led to a spiritual path. Discovering the writing of Eckhart Tolle while doing research was a turning point in his life. He has developed an incredibly simple, compelling narrative to make meditation accessible to anyone, based on his own experience. He defines mindfulness as “the skill of knowing what’s happening in your head at any given moment without getting carried away by it.” We enjoyed the video of his recent Google Talk—we hope you do too.
