Police in Haryana has decided to put away the guns to control violent agitators. With marbles and chilli balls as the ammo, the ‘gulail’, or slingshot, will be the new weapon of choice. Yes, we know that still hurts, but at least these weapons don’t kill, which is what happened in the recent past when citizens were voicing their dissent. “Those agitating are our own people,” the authorities have said explaining the move. “They are not criminals.”
