An ingredient in red wine known as resveratrol is known to prolong life and protect against a range of ailments including heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. Unfortunately, it would take unforgiving amounts of wine to receive the benefits of this ingredient, but that may change soon. Researchers have developed a pill that combines purified resveratrol with other compounds in wine in an effort to mimic the drink’s naturally-occuring synergies to give you the full benefits of the ingredient. There is much work that still needs to be done before resveratrol pills become available for consumers however, so in the mean time, grab your dose of resveratrol from the only reliable source: a glass of wine.
