With on-demand amenities continuing to grow in popularity with urban consumers, delivery services are providing a number of self-employment opportunities for entrepreneurs. In South Africa, which has a particularly high rate of youth unemployment, a development program called BuddiBox is helping young people set up their own local delivery service. The program provides individuals with training and business support, and encourages them to use their local knowledge and contacts to develop a service specific for their designated area. While it helps young entrepreneurs find work, it will also help local businesses reach consumers in the community.
