Thanks to a new silk implant developed by a team of Australian researchers, it takes just one simple surgery to do the trick. The silk implant, called the ClearDrum, is strong and bio-compatible, meaning it acts as framework for the patient’s own cells to grow over the top. What’s more, the ClearDrum reduces the cost and healing time of a typical eardrum procedure.
