Frustrated by Trump’s attempts to minimize NASA’s role in monitoring climate change, California Governor Jerry Brown has announced that California will launch a satellite of its own. The satellite is part of a project to ensure that the state can monitor greenhouse gas emissions fueling climate change even if Trump and his allies in Congress cut budgets for similar NASA programs. Brown’s plan follows another ambitious one signed last week that will switch California to entirely renewable electrical power by 2045.
