Fast-food chain after fast-food chain is getting in on the fake meat trend. KFC is the latest to do its bit for the planet, after announcing a partnership with Beyond Meat to move beyond the chicken coop with plant-based chicken nuggets and boneless wings.

As a test, the vegetarian chicken alternatives – called Beyond Fried Chicken – will go on sale for one day only at a restaurant in Atlanta where customers will receive a free sample when they purchase something and be asked for their feedback.

With multiple fast-food restaurants having recently tested and implemented plant-based food options on their menus, it looks like the industry is slowly but steadily coming to grips with rising consumer demand for vegetarian alternatives.
