Today’s Solutions: July 11, 2025

Recently, we shared a story about a successful floating cinema in Paris on the Seine.  Now, cities across the US are adopting their own aquatic versions of the classic drive-in theater.

With the help of Australian entertainment and event company, Beyond Cinema will be in 16 cities around the US throughout September and October. The events will accommodate 12 to 24 mini boats, which can hold up to eight people per boat. Guests can reserve an entire boat ahead of time to ensure that they are only filled with family and friends within their quarantine bubble.

The floating events will take place in Los Angeles, Denver San Diego, San Francisco, St. Louis, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, New York, Pittsburgh, Austin, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Cincinnati as well as three Canadian cities. According to Beyond Cinema, the featured movies will include a mix of old classics and newer releases.

Socially distanced entertainment including drive-in theaters and movies projected on city buildings have gained popularity during the pandemic. This is another creative solution to catching your favorite films during a pandemic.
