Today’s Solutions: December 20, 2025

Last month, we wrote about an animal crossing bridge in Los Angeles that will soon be built to help wildlife such as mountain lions safely cross over the US 101 freeway, which cuts through their habitat. Although we won’t get to see the finished product until 2021, we can get a sense of how it will work by checking out a wildlife overpass that’s already in use in Utah.

The Parley’s Canyon wildlife overpass was built in Utah a couple of years ago by the Department of Transportation and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. The bridge is designed with logs and rocks to simulate a natural environment and to encourage animals to use it.

Recently, the Division of Wildlife Resources shared a video that shows critters big and small using it to safely traverse Interstate 80. Check out the link below for the full video and see how animals from chipmunks to moose are using this solution for safe crossing.
