A Danish design studio is constructing a little village in France specially made to host people with Alzheimer’s. The goal of the village, which will be reminiscent of the medieval fortresses located nearby, is to create a sense of community and familiarity for the patients by orienting them with a sense of direction and visual cues. The village will also have a research center that will focus on comparing the village’s treatment with that of traditional institutions as a way to measure how effective this new, immersive form of care is.
