Nobody could have predicted children would get this far. From Colombia and Belgium to India, Norway and the U.S., they are succeeding bringing lawsuits arguing that their governments have violated “the youngest generation’s constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property” by adopting policies that promote the use of fossil fuels—despite the knowledge that carbon dioxide emissions are a primary cause of global warming. Their latest victory:  The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has denied the Trump administration’s attempt to dismiss the suit of the children.
