Today’s Solutions: June 26, 2026

Being America’s most populous state and the world’s fifth largest economy makes it all the more impressive that California sits amongst the forerunners in the global energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables. A new report issued by the California Energy Commission shows that the Golden State has officially passed its 33 percent renewable energy target two years before the 2020 deadline. The report notes that in 2018, solar represented the largest portion of renewable generation serving California’s power load, with almost 12 percent of all electricity coming from the source. The state’s next major milestone is to hit 44 percent by 2024, a 33 percent growth in just over five full years. The state’s economic strength and its remarkable green energy generation capacity is a prime example of the potential that the world’s leading economies have in creating a greener, more sustainable future.
