Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you regret something you did or said out of anger? If so, you’re not alone. Anger is a normal feeling that we’re all bound to feel from time to time, and it can actually be a positive emotion when it helps you work through issues or problems. However, if you let anger take over you, it can also lead to aggressive outbursts that you’ll surely regret later on.

We know that controlling your anger in the heat of the moment can be a monumental task, but the good thing is that there are plenty of strategies you can use for controlling anger. For instance, if you’re feeling really mad, try counting down from 100. In the time it takes you to count, your heart rate will slow, and your anger will likely subside.

Another way is to take a break from the anger-filled situation you find yourself in and listen to some music. Put in earbuds or slip out to your car. Crank up your favorite music (avoid heavy metal), and hum, bop, or sashay your anger away.

If these specific strategies won’t do the trick, no worries. We have 23 more tips for you right here that will help you regain your calm in the face of anger.
