Today’s Solutions: December 18, 2025

It’s no brainer that plastic waste is harmful to the environment. A lot of people and organizations around the world are doing their bit in tackling the issue, however, a lot more needs to be done.

In a rather brilliant manner to help save the environment, India just launched its very first ‘garbage cafe’ in the city of Ambikapur in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The idea behind the initiative is to provide wholesome food to the homeless and poor while incentivizing garbage collection and keeping the streets clean.

Persons fetching 1 kilo of plastic waste are offered a full meal, while those collecting 500 grams of it get a substantial breakfast. The city’s municipality plans to use all of the collected plastic waste to build robust roads in Ambikapur, which is considered the second cleanest city in India.
