Today’s Solutions: May 04, 2024

Not only will the food we eat be different in the future, but also the packaging. Today’s glimpse into the world of alternative food packaging comes from a surprising suspect: Pizza Hut. The pizza chain is trying to reshape (literally) everything we know about how to transport a pizza, through the introduction of a round pizza box.

The circular pizza box contains less material than traditional square boxes, and they’re made from sustainably harvested plant fibers, meaning they are fully compostable. To debut the circular box, Pizza Hut is using it to deliver its new Garden Speciality Pizza, which is topped with plant-based Incogmeato sausage—another nod to more eco-friendly pizza practices.

With all this said, we have to ask the question: Why were we putting round pizzas in square boxes, anyway?
