Today’s Solutions: December 17, 2025

As the micromobility revolution is in full swing, with electric scooters being hailed as efficient alternatives in urban transportation, the concept isn’t without its downsides, one of the major ones being injuries. Luckily, there are now services out there that are putting safety first.

Enter Wheels, the maker of the funky-looking seated electric scooter you might have seen around US cities lately. Not quite electric bicycles yet still not quite like the rest of the e-scooters out there, their seated design is said to be safer and more comfortable. And now the company is adding a new level of safety to its rides: a sharable and smart helmet.

Every rider can use the helmet, which comes with a biodegradable headliner that can be peeled off before each use. What’s more, the new helmets have been designed to live on the vehicle, with riders being able to unlock them for free via the service’s app at the time of their ride.

The initiative is a great way to give micromobility users the opportunity to protect themselves, while also setting an example for other companies in the industry.
