When it comes to the electric mobility revolution, Norway is certainly at its forefront. The country possesses the largest fleet of plug-in electric cars per capita in the world, with over 50 percent of Norway’s new car sales being electric. Now, the country plans to electrify its skies by making all of its domestic short-haul flights operate on electric aircraft by 2040.

People living in the Northernmost part of the country, where there are 16 operational airports, could see electric aircraft take them over the region’s fjords as soon as the next 10 years.

By 2040, the country intends all short-haul flights leaving its airports to be on aircraft powered by electricity. If this pans out, it says greenhouse gas emissions will be cut by 80 percent compared with 2020.
