Today’s Solutions: December 16, 2025

Amidst the anxiety and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is assuring children across the country that the Easter Bunny is an essential worker and will be able to continue egg distribution on schedule this Sunday.

The response came after reports that some children were concerned about the bunny’s ability to follow through with treats and colorful eggs as usual given the crisis.

In a press conference, Ardern did inform children, however, that the bunny may not be able to facilitate all the normal holiday traditions, giving parents who may not be able to access supplies or host regular events a little breathing room.

Although New Zealand has only 1,160 cases, a relatively low number, the Prime Minister reinforced the importance of continuing social distancing and isolation measures to limit the spread of the virus.

While the Easter holiday will certainly feel a bit different this year for families who celebrate, the festivities and family traditions surrounding the day will be a welcome distraction and morale booster during the pandemic.
