Today’s Solutions: December 18, 2025

We’ve been quarantining at home for four months now, and most of us are sick and tired of our home and its views. If you’re craving an escape and looking out your living room window just isn’t cutting it anymore, you can try out Window Swap, an online platform that lets you gaze out upon a view from someone else’s window somewhere in the world.

Created by Sonali Ranjit and Vaishnav Balasubramaniam, you can submit a 10-minute, horizontal HD video of your window and frame, including your name and location for credits. Once it gets approved by the site (for obvious reasons), you will have access to views from around the world such as someone’s backyard waterfall in Singapore, a balcony garden in Munich, or the French seaside.

All windows, weathers, and views are welcome. While you may be bored with your fire escape or the pigeons that inhabit it, this would be fascinating for someone who has lived their entire life in a rural area.

We’re all yearning to experience something new while feeling stagnated at home. This is an easy way to do so from the comfort of your own home. If you live in a city, the view of greenery and the countryside through someone else’s window can even help boost your mood. If you’re stranded in the suburbs with your parents, maybe all you need is a view of the dense city to soothe your cabin fever.

Virtual travel, tours, and exploration have skyrocketed in popularity during the pandemic. While virtually visiting the Louvre is breathtaking, there is something wonderfully beautiful about experiencing the scenery of daily life from a stranger’s point of view.
