Supporting Black-owned businesses is a great way to use your dollars to fight for racial justice. Now, Google is making it easier for users to locate and patron Black-owned businesses by adding a badge to companies’ Google profiles.

The badge is a black heart over an orange three-striped background. Business owners can verify their business by mail, phone, or email to have it added to their page. The company has similar badges for women and LGBTQ+ led businesses.

The badge is part of Google’s pledge to improve “initiatives and product ideas that support long-term solutions” for racial equality. Google and popular business review website Yelp have both reported a surge in searches for Black-owned businesses recently. The new badge can be a great solution for increasing the visibility of Black-owned businesses and making it easier for customers to support these businesses.
