Today’s Solutions: February 05, 2026

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, grocery delivery services such as Instacart have faced unprecedented demand as more people are eager to avoid crowded stores. The problem is that people who receive food stamps are not able to access grocery delivery services. But that is about to change thanks to a new pilot program from Instacart, which will allow people to select food stamps as a payment option when ordering from the grocery store Aldi.

The pilot program will only be available in Georgia at first, but will expand to Aldi stores in Illinois, California, Florida, and Pennsylvania “in the coming months.” Under the program, Aldi will accept food stamps for its same-day delivery and pickup service, allowing people to safely avoid shopping in person.

While Instacart’s program is a long way’s away from being available nationwide, the program could spur other grocery delivery services to start accepting food stamps as a form of payment.
