The “happiest place on earth” will soon bring immunity to California after the state announced that Disneyland will become a Covid-19 vaccination site.

Despite facing severe covid-19 surges, the CDC reports that California ranks 42nd out of 50 states in its vaccination rate per 100,000 residents. So far, the state has distributed only about one-third of its vaccine supply.

In an effort to ramp up vaccinations, Governor Gavin Newsom announced last week that all Californians over the age of 65 are now eligible to receive the vaccine with Disneyland, located in Orange County, serving as the first “super” distribution site. Disneyland, which has been closed since mid-March, will have the capacity to vaccinate thousands of people daily, making it one of the state’s largest vaccination centers.

The state plans to open similar sites at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Cal Expo in Sacramento, and Petco Park in San Diego. All these locations are expected to open early this week.
