In a bold move that is a huge step towards a more open global market system, Estonia has now made it possible for anyone to open a bank account or start a business there without being physically present—though you will have to take a visit to get fingerprinted and prove you’re a real person. E-citizens can’t vote or attain visas, but in the future they might be able to have a say in changes to Estonian tax structure. E-citizenship is an enticing offer for entrepreneurs in countries where setting up a shop is more difficult. One Ukrainian businessman says he will start doing his business in Estonia because services like PayPal aren’t available in his home country.
