Bristol Bay is also rich in oil and gas deposits, sitting deep below the beautiful scenery, and was once threatened by plans for drilling. Recently president Obabma gave Bristol Bay protected status, saving it from future drilling and oil projects. “It’s something that is too precious for us to be putting out to the highest bidder,” Obama said.
