Some people think wind turbines are ugly. And to be honest, they’re not always the nicest looking structures in a landscape. It’s often hard to find the best spot for them, also keeping in mind that they need to catch enough wind. British and Spanish researchers have come up with a clever new spot: they propose to use the space under a viaduct. They used The Juncal Viaduct on the Canary Islands as a model for the project, and their calculations show that installing turbines here would produce enough power for 450 to 500 homes, or around half a megawatt.
