Uber has agreed to share data with Boston’s city planners. The idea is that data from the ride sharing application can help pin point strategies for public transit expansion, help manage the city’s growth, and relive traffic congestion which will cut down on emissions. The deal will give Boston’s planners pick up and drop off location and time, as well as ride duration. Each data set will only be identifiable by zip code, so no personal information will be shared. So next time you you use Uber, you could also be helping design a more efficient city.
