Drivers waste around 70 million hours a year looking for parking. It’s not just a drag; it pollutes the environment, and wastes gas. To solve this problem Ford has come up with a way to use the sensors already embedded in many car’s bumpers, to help drivers parallel park, and use them to help find parking spots. The way it works is when cars drive through the streets they use their sensors to scan the sensors of parked cars and send the information to an online map that will say what spots are available, and the likelihood it will still be available based on the last scan. Then when you need to park, you tell your car and get directions to the nearest spot. For now the technology is only being tested on Fords, but hopefully will soon be available for all cars.
