In Haryana, India, life is hard on women. The area, bordering Delhi, is known as one of the country’s most patriarchal states and for the highest crime rates against women. That’s why many women fear travelling by rickshaws. Cab-hailing apps such as Uber can be expensive. Enter Bikxie Pink—a new bike-taxi company that wants to make travelling for women safe and affordable. Bikxie Pink is training women drivers to help female commuters.“At one level, we are providing employment to women. At another, we are empowering them,” says Mohit Sharma, founder & CEO of Bikxie Pink.
