Nearly half of households are currently unable to host a solar photovoltaic system, according to the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory. One major reason is that the rooftop solar market is closed to renters. Boston-based startup Yeloha intends to explore that untapped potential by offering a service enabling neighbors to share access to PV installations. The innovative business model is already being tried out in Massachusetts. If successful, the service could have a major impact accelerating the growth of the US solar market.
