The majority of Americans work during their vacation, and most only take half of their allotted vacation time, according to a recent study. While you might think that working during your downtime is a selfless sacrifice for your beloved employer, it might be that taking a real vacation—as in not working at all—is actually more beneficial for business than working throughout the whole year. People who take more time off are more creative, present better solutions and are more productive. When it comes to work , the message may very well be: Less is more. Designer Stefan Sagmeister takes a year off every 7 years, and has attributed his sabbaticals to being the inspiration behind some of his most creative work. Extended vacations rejuvenate you physically, but also birth creativity in your vacuum of brain activity that is otherwise used for work.
