Fossil fuels consumption is tumbling faster than we may have expected. Just 44 years after Dong Energy was set up to exploit Denmark’s North Sea oilfields, the company has confirmed plans to sell its oil and gas division to become a “global leader in renewables”. The company is already the U.K’s largest supplier of wind energy, and they believe wind energy could soon supply most of the U.K’s electricity. The chief executive of the company nods to the plummeting prices  of green energy coupled with improvements in battery storage technology as a sign that this is more than possible.
