Inflammation, contrary to what many believe, is an important function of the immune system that fights off infections and removes potentially toxic compounds. The only problem is that when you age, the process isn’t regulated as well as it is in a younger body. So how can you help your body keep its inflammation levels down? According to a new study, the answer may just be coffee. The study found that regular coffee drinkers had lower levels of inflammation than those who did not drink coffee regularly, and that the caffeine may just help to active the genes that fight against inflammation. So grab yourself a cup of joe or two, it might not be such a bad idea.
