Composting your household organic waste is a good thing to do. The problem is that converting waste into healthy soil takes time while the process attracts pests and spreads unpleasant odors. Here’s a new solution: the Zera Food Recycler. The Zera sits in your kitchen instead of out in your backyard. Vegetable, meat and dairy food waste is dumped into it throughout the week. Once the bin is full, a motorized, auger-style blade sets about mixing, slicing and aerating everything. Within 24 hours, the contents of the bin are rendered into nutrient-rich soil. The Zera is currently the subject of a crowdfunding campaign that has far exceeded its funding goal.
