In most of Africa there are no refrigerators. As a result, a third of the food produced on the continent is never consumed. It is a very painful loss for the millions of people in Africa who are food insecure or undernourished. A young IT graduate developed a solar-powered, walk-in cold room that provides retailers with storage facilities to preserve perishable products. The FreshBox is cheap and can easily be replicated throughout the continent.
