What will be the best organic product? The best fair trade product? The best responsible business? Let us know your favorites by sending them to editor@odemagazine.com.

| October 2004 issue
Ode continually reports on companies and initiatives and products that point the way to a cleaner and healthier society. And we are pleased to show how green and organic products can also fit into the modern lifestyle. The era when healthy and responsible went hand in hand with tasteless and unattractive has passed. Organic was once an alternative and now is increasingly a priority. In many parts of the world, “green” businesses are growing a lot faster than conventional ones.
So we are unveiling the first edition of “The Organic Top 20” according to Ode. This Top 20 list is our selection of the best products of 2005 and of companies whose sustainable operations set them apart from business as usual.
Our Top 20 draws on enterprises from around the world. Not all the products described are available everywhere. And the companies nominated are not active worldwide. We opted for this international selection to show that green and organic are powerful global trends. Our candidates offer inspiration—even if their products are not all easily accessible in the over 70 countries represented by our readership.
The editorial staff has selected the following categories*:
· The best organic product
· The best fair trade product
· The best company
You can decide the winners for each category by sending us an e-mail to editor@odemagazine.com. We’ll announce the winners in our December 2004 issue.
Change starts with knowledge. Which is why this special section celebrating sustainable, socially-responsible entrepreneurs was prefaced by an “Organic Manifesto” from a mother and biologist who attests to the importance of green products. – The editorial staff
If you want to nominate a product or company, please feel free to send an e-mail to editor@odemagazine.com with a reference to Organic Top 20. Your nominee could be part of our Organic Top 20 of 2006, which we will present next year.
With contributions from Elbrich Fennema, Jurriaan Kamp, Nynke Sietsma, Tijn Touber and Marco Visscher
