The sharing economy works well for people, services like ride-sharing platform Lyft, and the apartment rental service Airbnb are showing. A new website, MuniRent, aims to bring municipalities into the sharing arena. MuniRent allows cities, counties, and states to rent, or rent-out large equipment to other cities, states or counties. The way it works is municipalities log on to MuniRent, select the equipment they want, like a dump truck or pavement roller, and then arrange a pick-up and drop-off date and time, and a price for the rental. All payments are made through the site.
