The correlation between vitamin D provided by the sun and developing dementia later in life has been established, but exposure to sunlight throughout the workday can also improve your mood, metabolism, alertness, and overall health. Researchers found that workers who were exposed to greater amounts of natural light slept better and longer, were more physically active, and had an overall better quality of life than those who stayed in the shadows all day. Those sitting by a window typically get 173 percent more light and slept an average of 46 minutes longer per night than people who do not work by a window. So pull you chair up to the nearest window for the rest of the day, or better yet—go outside!
