Kerosene lamps and polluting generators can provide light for some, but the fumes these two sources emit cause cancer, and other breathing problems. A tech startup has a playful solution: the soccer ball. On the inside of this special soccer ball is a mechanism that captures kinetic energy when people kick it around. On the outside of the soccer ball is a plug that lamps and other devices can plug into to harness the stored energy. Now that’s bright.
