Today’s Solutions: January 20, 2026

Our society is hooked on oil and natural gas. While we make the transition into a—hopefully—completely green society, we need to minimize the impact of the fossil fuels our society has to use in order to keep running. In an effort to do exactly that the Obama administration has announced plans to reduce methane emissions—a horrible greenhouse gas—in the oil and gas production sector by 45 percent from 2012 emissions levels by 2025. A major method of minimizing the release of methane and maximizing its use is capturing and burning it to heat homes. If all goes as planned the initiative could collect enough methane to heat 2 million homes per year.
