Today’s Solutions: May 10, 2026

Our hands are intricate mazes of bones, tendons, and nerves. They’re so intricate in fact that severe nerve damage in the hand can render it all but useless. Now researchers have created a bionic hand that replaces a nerve damaged hand, and can be controlled with your thoughts. The bionic hand works by connecting to a part of the arm that’s healthy, and above the nerve damaged area. To get to healthy nerves doctors must amputate the damaged hand. After the hand is amputated, doctors put on the prosthetic hand, and attach sensors in the bionic hand to healthy nerve endings. When the patient thinks about moving their hand, the nerves trigger the bionic hand to move accordingly. This is a major breakthrough in prosthetic technology and could change the lives of thousands who suffer from nerve damage.
