Governments are not known to be successful in meeting their targets. But here’s a surprising fact: The 28 states of the European Union are well under way to realize their target to generate 20% of the EU’s energy in 2020 from renewables. According to new data from the EU’s statistical agency, Eurostat, Europe already hit 15% of energy produced from renewables in 2013. Eurostat published some more interesting statistics: Sweden already stands at 52% renewable energy—beyond its 2020 goal!
