New York City has been cracking down on musicians performing on subway platforms. It is too bad, given the crop of talents that can be found there on a regular basis. This, at least, is the opinion of Dan Pierson, the founder of Subway Sets. A couple of years ago, the Brooklyn resident started organizing rooftop concerts for those artists he feels deserve a more attentive audience and better recognition than what the subway can afford them. He has organized shows for over 20 musicians, and been invited to talk about them on television. He has also been collecting extraordinary personal stories that he plans to turn into a documentary.
