Government workers in Turkey are encouraged to start work an hour later than usual. Why? The time should be spent in the gym or talk to a dietician. Turkey is one of the countries where obesity is rampant. Of its adult population 61.9 percent is overweight and 28.8 percent is obese. The governor of the Erdine province in Turkey has therefore initiated the “Our Cure is Sport” campaign. It’s an idea that businesses around the world might be interested in as well; in the United States, obese people cost employers more than double normal weight employees in covered medical claims, sick days, short-term disability, and workers compensation.
