Most of us are now thoroughly recycling our waste. But here’s a company that wants to outsource all that sorting to organisms. Dong Energy will open the world’s largest waste-to-biogas conversion plant in England next spring. The company uses advanced enzyme technology to handle unsorted domestic waste. The new plant will sort around 15 tons of trash per hour—120,000 tons a year—in a process that will power nearly 10,000 homes. Dong Energy sees the new process as “complimentary” to regular recycling. So, don’t get lazy just yet.
