When constructing a building in Africa, the one thing it must be able to do is withstand the African climate. By combining the sophistication of European architecture along with the needs of African buildings, Berlin-based architecture Francis Kéré has started an architectural revolution in Africa by creating buildings that use native materials while naturally cooling the interior. The building style is empowering villages to design their buildings with efficiency and style in mind. See here a few photos of Kéré’s work, collected in a new volume called Radically Simple.
