When it comes to fruits, apples have some of the highest levels of pesticide residue. And while washing apples off with tap water is the simplest way to rid of these pesticides, it is not very effective. Research shows adding a little baking soda to water leads to the most-effective cleaning. Peeling your fruit also helps, but by doing so will deprive you of valuable fiber, vitamins and minerals found in the skin.
